Chakras and Tree of Life

How do you learn to balance and heal your Chakras?

The answer is by sensing or scanning the energies of the chakras, and then by modulating them.

Firstly, below is an overall outline of the Chakras and how they affect people and continuing on there is an expansion upon each of the seven individual chakras so as you can gain a knowledge base from which to work.  Using this base, when you feel that there is something that is not going smoothly in your life, by referring back to each of the chakras and the effects they have when not in balance, you should be able to learn to see these aspects within yourself and consequently carry forth the healing needed.

In very basic terms, the body is a map of our Higher Self …. whatever ailments or emotions that we experience in our physical bodies is a direct link to our spiritual bodies, so if we learn to look for and understand what the physical symptoms are indicating, we can short circuit a lot of discomfort in our lives.  As with everything connected to our spiritual growth, first and foremost we must learn to become extremely aware of all around us and to look for the synchronicities and messages that are constantly placed in our paths.  This means that we must not only learn to become very observant and alert to the messages, but most importantly we must learn to TRUST what we are given.  Everything happens for a reason, so we must discover those reasons to understand how we must follow our path.  To properly hear and appreciate our messages, we must give ourselves quiet contemplation DAILY – this is where it is important that people continue on with the meditational aspect of their life, because as life passes on and you miss the messages given to you, deeper and stronger experiences will be thrown your way until you sit up and take notice.

Opening and activating your chakra centres can have many physical and spiritual aspects. For those who have an understanding of metaphysics, it allows them to reach higher in their quest for truth and knowledge. Since chakras are connected to various organs in the body, it can help one achieve health and balance in the physical body.

By activating the psychic centres in the etheric body, we enter a world of extrasensory realities and cross thresholds of experience beyond the scope of five-sensory beings. We open doors that expand our perceptions and our reality as we become more in tune with our Higher Self.

There are a couple of ways to approach working with the Chakras — One can choose a chakra that is out of balance on which to concentrate, or else begin with the Base or Root Chakra and work up. If in doubt, try testing with Kinesiology or a pendulum to see which would be most appropriate.  If you are unaware of either of these methods, we can share some knowledge of them with you.  Working on all of the chakras progressively, commencing with the 1st chakra, usually means that one becomes more balanced more easily.  Starting with the Base Chakra and working up through them allows you to gain a full understanding of each one before moving on to the next.

It is recommended to work with one chakra at a time for as long as you feel necessary, depending upon how you personally feel and how quickly you feel you have understood each one and are ready to grasp the next one.  No particular time frame needs to be attached to this work … it is most beneficial when one works at the pace that suits oneself.  If the work is rushed through, you won’t be able to get a thorough grasp of the energies of each chakra.

Meditate on the chakra on which you are working and visualise it expanding and becoming more radiant. Repeat the affirmation attached to each one three times, several times throughout the day.

Using kinesiology or a pendulum, track your progress until it tests fully open and functioning before moving on to the next chakra.

By understanding and working with the chakras (or the Spheres of the Tree of Life) in different ways you will be able to increase your awareness of your real potential and even make your development accelerate. It might make it possible for you to influence your life in ways perhaps, at this point, unknown.

The Chakras

Chakras (the Sanskrit word for wheel) are saucer-like vortices or wheels of light in a person’s etheric body. These are points of connection where energy flows from one subtle body to the other. When underdeveloped, they appear as small circles about 5 cm in diameter, glowing dully. In a more evolved person, when awakened and energised, they are seen as blazing whirlpools, much increased in size and resembling miniature suns, glowing and pulsating with light, opening them to higher awareness, abilities, and possibilities.

They resemble flowers with the stalk springing from points on the spine with the bells of the flower emerging on the surface of the etheric body. They are perpetually rotating and correspond to and energise certain physical organs. This force binds together the astral and etheric bodies. The more developed a chakra becomes, the larger and more radiant it is. There are radiating bands of energy within each chakra resembling spokes on a wheel that increase in number as they move up the body crowning an enlightened being with the thousand petalled *lotus* of the crown chakra. Currents of energy radiate from the chakras and flow along the nerves and meridians.

Meditating through Chakra Symbols

Meditating through Chakra Symbols

The lower (physiological) chakras include the Base or Root Chakra, the Sacral / Abdominal or Sexual Chakra, and the Solar Plexus or Navel Chakra. The middle (person-al) chakra is the Heart Chakra that links the lower and upper chakras. The upper (spiritual) chakras include the Throat Chakra, the Third Eye or Brow Chakra, and the Crown Chakra.

The function of each of the etheric centres when fully activated is to bring down into physical consciousness whatever may be the quality inherent in the astral centre to which it corresponds.

Chakra 6 is connected to the pituitary gland and Chakra 7 to the pineal gland, and come into action only when a certain amount of spiritual development has taken place. When the pituitary gland is brought into working order, it forms a perfect link with the astral vehicle so that through it all communications from within can be received.

To Summarise ………..

When there is tension in a particular part of the body, this represents a tension in a particular part of the consciousness, about a particular part of your life. Being aware of these associations helps one to see the importance of resolving the tense issues in your life.

If it were only a question of doing what is necessary to be happy, that would be reason enough to motivate ourselves to want to change something that doesn’t work for us, but here, we see that it is also a matter of health. The issues that are unresolved in a person’s life are, in fact, hazardous to their health.

When we see the correspondences between the consciousness and the body, we see the degree to which we each create our reality. In fact, those words begin to take on a new meaning. We see how everything begins in our consciousness and we are able to look around us at other aspects of our lives in the same way.

When we see how the body carries out the messages and deepest wishes of the Being within the body, we can realise that the process can go in more than one direction. If our consciousness is directing how we develop symptoms, it can also direct how we release these same symptoms. If our consciousness can make our body ill, our consciousness can make our body well.

The logical conclusion of this process is that anything can be healed.

The Chakras are not quickly understood, but if you persist, it is a wonderful addition to your personal knowledge and the most amazing form of self-healing.

When all of the chakras are ‘whirling open’, bright and clean, our chakra energy system is balanced. When the power points become blocked, damaged or muddied with the residual energy, then our emotional and physical health can be affected. The more open and balanced the chakras are, the more energy flows through your system. This energy is essential for vitality, health and continued growth on all levels. The effects of our habits, feelings, beliefs, thoughts, fears and desires can be found in our chakras. For example if you eat poorly and don’t exercise, your Root Chakra will become sluggish, darkened and dull. If you close off your emotions because they are too painful or overwhelming, your Heart Chakra is likely to become too tight and closed, thus resulting in a blockage. If you are extremely centred in your intellect, you may have a bulging and bright Third Eye Chakra but a disproportionately small Heart, Root or Sacral Chakra.

In the West we tend to value the upper chakras over the lower ones. The heart and head is the key focus and is often the first to be noticed and ‘worked with’. Emphasising these two power points is just one component of the full range of energy dynamics in the body though.  Our ‘new age way’ of thinking transforms our spiritualness into a complete and whole being. Thus we make all the chakra points important, joining mentally all of the chakra points and not merely ‘excluding’ the lower ones that *can* deal with our sexual nature.  It is for this reason that we recommend starting at the first, lower chakra and working up through them.

So, “How does one become balanced?”  There are a few methods, and it is a matter of personal choice for people who do energy work to visualise things differently. Some ‘see’ colours while others ‘feel’ the energy at its point. Most often, visualising takes place while in a meditative state. There is no set way to meditate and visualise these energy fields. You need to find what works the best for you. There is no right or wrong way to visualise, just as long as you do. The more you practise, the easier it will be to see and feel them. Meditation and its techniques vary widely and it is beneficial to move along in that area concurrently with the Chakra work.  Working with Chakra Crystals is also very helpful in taking in the energy that these elementals provide to us.  You will notice on each of our detailed Chakra pages that the associated crystals are noted, so by all means work with these in addition if that is your leaning.  Working with crystals is very healing and energising, but each of us is different.  We offer a complete section on Chakra Crystals that will give you detailed information.
